A beautiful old fragment, most probably from Amorgos, the easternmost island of the Cyclades. The fragment, possibly from a bed curtain or cushion cover, features pairs of leaves embroidered in shades of brown, green, and pale orange.

Professionally mounted on a stretcher frame (1.5 inches deep). Age-related wear with some conservation.
